History

Early in the fall quarter of 1926 a group of undergraduate students at the Georgia State College of Agriculture met in

Lumpkin Hall to discuss the possibility of forming an agricultural fraternity.  A local fraternity by the name Gamma Alpha was organized. This fraternity petitioned for a chapter with Alpha Gamma Rho in the fall of 1926. The petition was granted and  on Feburary 14, 1927  fourteen members were initiated into the Alpha Eta chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho.

  • Our Chapter

The Alpha Eta chapter was charted at the University of Georgia in 1927, and has been situated at its current location of 785 South Milledge Avenue since the early 1950s. We have a full social calendar each semester with date nights, socials, band parties, tailgates, and an annual formal. We host two philanthropies each year, and we actively participate in numerous others. Our brothers also participate in both fall and spring intramural sports. Academic performance is a high priority here at Alpha Eta. Various scholarships are offered to new members and brothers as incentives for scholastic achievement. In addition, AGR strongly encourages involvement on campus and within the community. AGR brothers are currently affiliated with Student Government, UGA HERO, UGA Miracle, Order of Omega, the Interfraternity Council, and many other organizations.
